Mood disturbances can result from a variety of causes, such as tension, stress, traumatic events, chemical imbalances, thyroid disorders, nutritional deficiencies, poor diet, lack of exercise, serious medical conditions, and food allergies. Brain chemicals called neurotransmitters regulate our behavior. Serotonin in particular, plays an important role in mood, sleep, and appetite. Low levels of serotonin are associated with anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances. Fortunately, there are many nutrients that can be of benefit.

Essential Products for Mood
5-HTP
5-HTP increases serotonin levels as well as other levels of endorphins and neurotransmitters that are diminished during depression. Many clinical studies have shown that 5-HTP is equal to the effectiveness of antidepressant drugs such as Prozac®, Paxil®, and Zoloft®, and is less expensive, better tolerated, and associated with fewer and milder side effects. Pathway 5-HTP contains the highest quality ingredients for the best absorption and use. People taking anti-depressants and certain other medications should not take 5-HTP.

SAMe
S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) is a naturally occuring compound in all living organisms. It is formed when the amino acid methionine combines with adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the body's major source of cellular energy. Studies show that SAMe supports healthy serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine levels, and therefore has the ability to lift your spirits. Scientists have found that certain groups of people, including the elderly, have low leves of SAMe in their bodies. Because significant amounts of SAMe are not readily available through food, taking it as a dietary supplement may prove very beneficial. Clinical studies show that SAMe is safe nd effective within one week of regular consumption.
