Blood Pressure

Printable Version
Elevated blood pressure poses a major risk for heart attack, stroke, and kidney disease. Lifestyle and dietary factors play a significant role in the regulation of blood pressure. Elevated blood pressure can be affected by numerous contributing factors such as: coffee and alcohol consumption, smoking, stress, lack of exercise (as well as obesity), a high sodium-to-potassium ratio, low fiber, high sugar, high saturated fat, and/or low essential fatty acid intake, and a diet low in calcium, magnesium, and/or Vitamin C. Fortunately, regular exercise, relaxation techniques, improved nutrition, and increasing consumption of plant-based foods such as celery, garlic, onions, broccoli, green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds, cold-water fish (salmon and mackerel, etc.), plus whole grains and legumes, all positively affect blood pressure levels.

CoQ-10
Coenzyme Q-10 is an important nutrient involved in manufacturing energy in the body. Studies have shown that supplementing with CoQ-10 has a positive affect on blood pressure levels. As an antioxidant, CoQ-10 also supports healthy cholesterol levels and vascular health. Since CoQ-10 is a fat-soluble nutrient, absorption can be enhanced by combining it with healthy fats like rice bran oil, as we have done in Pathway CoQ-10 PLUS. In a recent independent study, the combination of ingredients in this product has been shown to provide considerably higher long-term Coenzyme Q-10 blood levels than the powdered form of CoQ-10.
